maybe a little too contrived with the leaf right there... i think it would have been nicer without it. nice detail and colors on the wood.

Ah!!! 394 images in and finally someone who breaks their boring wood shot up with something of interest! Superb photo and I hand you my vote of 10!

Now this is good photography. Great rhythm, detail, feel and balance. Found photography, rather than set-up? I kind of hope so, out fo some (probably misguided) sense of what constitutes 'proper' photography. Don't misunderstand this, but I'm not sure the real detail of texture comes through - it's more on a grand scale of the shaping of those roots and that leaf than the contrast between the two surfaces. Still very good stuff though.

I really appreciated the fact that you placed an additional point of interest in your picture. Sometimes a never ending sea of repeating texture/patterns can become rather monotonous for the eye. Keep this idea in mind for cetertain future shots. Keep it up!

I'm admittedly a sucker for this type of photograph, but I really love this picture. The lighting is beautiful, soft but with a healthy amount of contrast, and the title is perfect as there is definitely a feel of flowing. One of my favourites.

I showed my mom's friend a drawing of a tree I once made.. The flow of the bark in my drawing very much resembled the bark in this photograph - More interesting is how this woman commented on the drawing - "wow, this is great... you realize that this drawing you made is overwhelmingly vaginal" then she proceeded to point out the various "vagina-like" crevasses that made up the trunk of my tree. Needless to say, she was tickled. It might be worth mentioning that the woman was a very eccentric and feministic lesbian. Anyway, the point is: I'm afraid to say it, but your photograph reminds me of vaginas now. Be that as it may, I award you an 8 for having to swallow this drivel :) Keep it up.

I like the composition, color and lighting. Even though the leaf looks natural, it still seems out of place somehow. I don't know how to explain that. Even though I like contrasting colors, it almost jars the eyes.

That leaf is what is missing on the other shots like this. Good job.

NIce composition and clear focus with strong presentation of texture. One of the better "wood" shots, but doesn't really hold my interest. I like the addition of the leaf.

Thank you for including the leaf!

Lovely texture and beautifully seen. The needed contrast is provided with the green leaf, and the pattern of the roots keep the viewer in the picture. I might go for just a bit more color. Nevertheless, the pattern is strong. Good work.

Wonderful eye to spot this. I think this is beautiful. Could use a bit more saturation and contrast. Hope you do well in the challenge.

Great exposure. You have captured the details without blowing anything out or getting a grainy look to it. the leaf really adds interest.

I was wondering if I have to look at the tree or leaf for your texture? Anyhow, this nice and interesting.

Very nice composition and contrasting colors between the roots and leaf. Conveys texture pretty well for me, should finish very well in my book. Great job!

Excellent shot. Obviously not from the North East, I've forgotten what green looks like.
