I like to imagine it got tired during migration and fell to the ocean then was washed ashore. I was happy to see there weren't a bunch of idiots around poking it with sticks a such. People were curious but left it alone...even a worn out goose deserves a bit of reverence.

Kind of a standard set-up and composition (and title), but dang this is a really good example of it, perfectly captured and processed. The length of sand between bird and sea adds a disorienting poignancy, as does the narrowness of the band of sky. It's a very very sad photograph.
