I've walked past this baseball a 100 times and have considered taking a photo of it on numerous occasions and just haven't. It's been laying in one of the mulched beds around the house (fall leaves have now come down), left behind after the dog mauled it a little. :-)

It was near sundown and just a little light was making it's way into this area. I grabbed a white foam board from the house to bounce some light back in on the shadowed side. This was the second shot I took of about 12 total. After the 3rd shot I grabbed the tripod. In the end I didn't need it. The shot that made it into the challenge was handheld at 1/5 shutter speed. I love this 50mm prime lens for low light, and the anti-shake of the Sony camera.

I feel horrible that I didn't vote in this challenge after seeing this image (not that you needed it!). I love this it, absolutely beautiful and stunning. Great finish!

I really like this shot, nice and simple, I don't need the title's help to know it fits in the theme, and the background is a great match with the ball. This is a nice change to a lot of the pictures I have been seeing.

Very subtle and effective. The leaves give us that end of Baseball season and the marked up ball adds to this. Nice use of shallow DOF. The focus does fall of a bit on the back of the ball however I think that's okay in this case.

Nice framing, I might have liked a bit stronger focus on the bottom edge of the frame. I would have also either skipped the frame completely or not gone with white, as it is too crisp vs the subject.

nice shot, shame about the out of focus top left dof, it distracts. Colors seem a bit too muted for my taste
