This is Violet. I was walking downtown looking for "something old" when this precious "like-a-child" lady stopped me and told me her mommy died, and she asked me if I would pray for her. I said, "Sure!". . .but then she said, "Now, please???" Well, lucky I'm a praying woman. Someone else might have felt a little awkward, but I grabbed her hands and prayed for her right there.
Then, just like a little child, she said, "I'm really hungry. I love McDonalds". So I asked Violet if she would like to have lunch with me at McDonalds today. The whole way as we walked, she kept saying, "Bless you. And bless your family. . .and bless your mommy and daddy" Then, she'd say, "I'm going to get BIIIIG fries!" Then, she'd bless me some more and say, "And I'm going to get a BIIIIG Dr. Pepper!" When we got there, I told her to order whatever she wanted. You'd have thought it was a kid's Christmas. When she sat down, she asked me if I would please pray and bless her again . . . but you know what? It was most definitely ME who was blessed!!! :)

I have chillbumps after your story, Sandy.
So many times, I'm too busy and miss the opportunity to give a blessing ... and get one in return.
You are amazing. |

Not for the wonderful portrait
Not for the textures of the skin
Not for the blueness of the eyes
Not for the outstanding colouring elsewhere in the image
Not for the great way you have filled the frame
Not for the composition
Not for the pin point sharpness
Not for the DOF
All of these are fantastic
But it is for the story behind the shot that I will always admire and respect you and feel honoured to have you as a friend on DPC |

Sandy, how do you do it?! You always have such neat, heart-warming stories!! You really caught the light in her eyes, such a warm smile she gave you too, so innocent. |

Sandy - what an AMAZING story. You took something way beyond a picture. Kudos to you for treating her to lunch. I look at this photo, I read the story, and I want to know more about Violet. What a fantastic job... |

Good choice of subject, composition, colors. Makes me want to know more about her ... she seems wearily happy, and not convinced that happiness will last more than a fleeting moment. |

White balance, over-sharpened. |

A striking subject, but the sharpness gives the photo a strange quality that isn't as appealing to me as if it were softer. |

This picture would be great in black and white with a little brown tone.
Keep up the good work. |

great capture, a thighter crop on the bottom right would put more focus on the face and less on the neck. looks like extensive pp went into this |
