Well, here's my two cents. :)
Perhaps this might have actually done a little better in the "Something Old" challenge.... The tree is obviously very old, whereas the connection between a farm or park being new is maybe stretching it a little. Just my opinion. :)
As for the image itself, it's interesting, but the composition isn't very exciting. The subject is awesome, but all the textures, lights and shadows make it difficult to photograph! I would suggest trying to photograph it from different points of view - try getting under the tree and looking upwards. A close-up shot of that amazing tree trunk could also be a possibility. Or, if the background isn't too cluttered, you might be able to get an intersting shot by backing up and having the tree on the side of the photo. I do really like the black and white tones though, they work VERY well here!
Hope this was helpful! :) |

nice capture hard to get sense of size sometimes on these big expansive trees but well done - like the BW |

Kind of small and busy. The image doesn't really have anything that catches your eye to draw you in. |

I don't get the relation to something new, but there as to be a link you see. very beauiful high key picture. the b/w conversion is done very well. the bench is a good touch. |

This tree must be old, not new. |

Not sure if you're in the wrong challenge - this would make sense in the old.
As for the image - the lighting being so harsh creates nice shadows on the tree, but blows out the sky. |
