Challenge: Free Study 2007-10 (Advanced Editing V)
Camera: Canon EOS-400D Rebel XTi

Cropped the picture a lot and tried to add a it more depth in the sky by using levels, shadow/highlight and some other tricks seperately.

Added a blank layer filled with a dark brown colour then changed blending mode to colour (it might have been hue) and change to about 30% opacity. This is great way to slightly tone images and something I will use a lot in the future. I then pushed the reds and yellows and blacks to bring out the autumnal shades and to increase the shadows.

High pass filter, smart sharpen. Soft focus effect added by duplicating layer, 4 pix guassian blur and reducing opacity to around 30%, not too much or it would obscure the details, i wanted a quieter effect.

I picked up a lot of these editing steps from Simms, yet mine pales next to his.

Anyways, I like this shot, I like how it looks like a rainy day up a hill... which, incidentally, it was.

Thanks for looking :)

My prediction: 5.9.

I absolutely adore this. The balance of the sheep with the woman and child to the right. Then you added a touch of softness. GORGEOUS.

quite moody and I like the simple tones - not so much the vignetting (perhaps too dominate) but I do like the hint of people.

7 - Nice. Processing works well here, like the scene, like the capture and stance of the 'ovine'. Do wish I could see the face more of the person in blue, it is distracting that they are there but cannot decipher them enough, so wonder about cropping them out, but your call.

Not fond of the dark edges or the haloing around the people but I do like the composition.
