 After school today we stopped at the iParty store to look at Halloween stuff (really so I could do a little photo shoot of the kids trying on Halloween masks). I invited Daniel's friend Jack to come along because it would guarantee that Daniel would get into the spirit of things, which he probably wouldn't do without a friend.

I used my 50mm f/1.4, the only lens I have that I thought would work under these conditions without a flash. Unfortunately, this lens suffered some sort of a focusing malfunction recently. I had to use it in manual focus at a very wide aperture, under poor lighting conditions...so, not a lot of the shots turned out great. I liked the fact that this shot captured Daniel's eyes in sharp focus.

I cloned out a patch on the mask that read "BAD SEED" because I couldn't bear to leave it there on my sweet boy.

i love how the eyes are so prevalent. personally, i think you should have kept "bad seed" on there, but that's just because i have a bad sense of humor.

Scary and sweet at the same time! That's one ugly mask, but Daniel's eyes look so innocent and angelic, it's a great juxtaposition! And I LOVE those skulls lined up at the top in the background, they add an extra punch to the whole thing :-)

Fantastic! The background is awesome. Your boy's eyes are huge and gorgeous and look all forlorn in the big bad mask. Wonderful!!

I thinh this is a great shot. And to think that we sometimes have to use manual focus. Disgusting!

This shot is really very clear and sharp. The focus is great and I think the B&W really enhances the shot.

This is excellent! Perfect backdrop for the shot, and his eyes come out so well. As for the lens focusing issue - I have that problem with mine as well - I think it's common. Try putting it on manual, turn the focus a bit, switch back to AF, and gently try to turn the focus ring - then try the autofocus. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't.

Wow, awesome detail and great tones!! Strangely, he looks like an angel in a devils mask. Nice image.

That is the strangest mask I think I've ever seen. I can't wrap my mind around what it's suppose to be. Kinda crazy. I love all the skeletons behind him.
