This year has been challenging in many ways. So many things have gone awry that I am pretty jumpy by now.

Registration on my car is due - well was due last month. Since I have vanity plates, it's pretty expensive and I've not had the money. In addition I had to have my car emissions tested.

So today I bit the bullet and went to emissions, expecting a looooong wait and other hassle, just because that's usually how it is.

But - alas! - there was NO waiting. I was whisked right into the testing area. They make you go into this little chamber and wait. I started taking photos, of course. Since there are signs everywhere warning you of this and that, I wasn't too obvious about my photographing.

Anyway - here you see the back wheel of my car on the treadmill. It's taken from within the little chamber.

I sharpened, resized, did some Lucis Exposure, a bit of Perfectum, some more sharpening and then I dodged the face in the window. The turquoise on the side and the ground were there. It didn't look that way to my eyeballs, but it did through the camera.

But to continue with the story... before I knew it, I was asked to get back into my car and drive to the next station where I payed the fee and was told my car passed inspection. I was there no more than five minutes!!

That is probably the easiest thing that has happened to me all year. Later I got some awesome shots for the upcoming challenges - it was all very blessed. I'm having some celebratory wasabi peas now. :o)

PS: Don't eat wasabi peas and then rub your eye... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahh!!!

I'm happy to hear things went well!! I love the smooth shiny look and the fellow's reflection! Your combination of exposure and perfectum is wonderful! After seeing what you've been doing with perfectum I downloaded the demo; it is cool! I suppose I'll be coughing up the bucks for it pretty soon :-) Thanks so much for the tip!!

Should have had a slighty longer exposure to get the movement of the wheel!

I like the gent's reflection - neat catch! And you can keep the wasabi peas.. ewww! :-) I'm familiar with the long lines for emissions testing - when I lived in Virginia I'd take a book.

This reminds me of when I lived in a different county and had to do the same. It was a total waste of time because if you didn't pass all you had to do was prove that you spent $200 to fix the problem, whether it did or not. I remember the long long lines and these special days when it wouldn't take long at all.

I like your angle here and guy's reflection. The roller thing you car is on reminds me of when they ding dong let my car skid off. No damage done but you'd think they would be more careful. Thanks for sharing.

Nice metallic effect... Hmmm, did I really say that? Love the gradations and flowing (soft?) effect.
