Ice carving contest yeilded many subjects. This one was unique because I accindentally left the tungsten filter on in the white balance.(Wondered why the camera was responding so slowly to my changes!) All my subjects had a blueish cast. For this shot, it turned out to be serendiptious. I felt it added a liquidness to the ice sculpture giving the frog a fluid look as it appears to jump out of the snow. Even the shadows helped with the hint of ripples in the snow.
Color adjusted, cropped it to remove the base and blend the subject into the snow, sharpened the edges and a sized for the web.

It's a nice idea, fits the challenge well. The composition is good, the focus on the subject is clear, exposure is not bad. I see a blue tint all over the photo which is probably caused by incorrect white balance setting. If your camera is capable of a shallow dof, using wider aperture will help blur the background to put more emphasis on the subject.

This is really neat! It looks like it's about to hop off the picture!

Just wondering if there was any way to make the background less noticeable - shallow depth of field perhaps? Or maybe a different angle? The frog looks really good.

Eye catching but just a photo

A superb subject, could you have moved around and took it with less of the distracting BG? The reflective light from the frog is awesome, a shot more down on it with just the snow in the BG would have been terrific. 6

The frog is very cool. No pun intended. The background is a little distracting though.

Nice play on the water element. Backgound takes away from your composition

You really really need a shallow DOF here - though if you are using a small sensor camera this wouldn't normally be possible. Becasue the surface of the frog is so abstract, I find my eye drawn to the more easily recognisable background.
