My mom let me take some pictures of this, though she was very weary of it. She got it from my grandmother when they lived in australia. If you are wondering what this is, it's a shell from an extinct sea creature of some sorts...It is a natulous(sp). If you saw it in person, it is really cool. It has a built in rainbow of colors inside of it.

the hot spot could use some work.

Good texture, lighting is a bit too harsh, would have preferred a close up of the shell.

really really needs to be sharper, a good subject ruined imho.

Highlights are too hot, but the colors and composition are decent.

A tighter crop on the left and right, and a sharper focus throughout the entire image would have made this a lot stronger, I believe.

Great idea, nicely done. I like the source of lighting reflecting oin the shell and pearls, it enhances the texture feeling. Nice composition.

nicely composed and got the feeling of smooth. Pearls at the bottom distract my attention a bit.

+ The shell is appealing and shows various textures in combination with the light.
- Focus seems to be a bit off; DOF is too shallow. Perhaps you should come closer to the shell to give the photo more appeal. A different POV or composition might improve the photo as well.

This is okay. I wish the lighting was a little more even. I like the texture.

I'm kind of seeing al lthe stuff at the bottom as a distraction. the shell is beautiful and tefinately a texture, but the stuff at the bottom is all out of focus, and being out of focus, doesn't seem like it's a main subject at all, and therefor doesn't really seem to fit in with the photo at all. Also, I think I'd like to see different crops of this. The bright spot in the center of the shell is actually appealing to me in this case. normally I don't like bright spots, but I think it works here well. ~Heather~

Nicely done. Only comment is the light source leaves a distracting hot spot and shadow. BOL

Pretty shell, color and lighting. Just needs focus.

I find this a bit weak compositionally: and the light and shade a bit blunt. It seems to emphasise shininess rather than smoothness. Whatever that stuff is surrounding the main shell seems very arbitrary.
