Sunrise on the beach near Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Overexposure of +1/3 EV and careful levels adjustment give the soft feel that I was looking for, yet the shot retains a reasonable amount of tone. This shot contains earth (beach), air, fire (sun), and water (sea). Bet I score about 2.34...

Almost all DPC voters expect a sunrise to be bursting with colors. Your photo would probably have placed much higher with some great California colors. Santa Cruz is a great area...do continue submitting local photographs.

I like that you used black and white for this. The sky is great, being dark at the very top, and scattering as it gets closer to the horizon. You should have done something to get rid of that bright sunlight in the center of the frame.

My monitor shows it a bit washed out in the center. If the exposure showed a little more detail it would have much more impact on me. Panoramic shape is nice.

Nice composition. The middle part seems a bit overexposed?

Many subjects work better in black and white, but IMHO sunrises and sunsets are not among them. I can imagine beautiful colors in the sky, and their reflections on the water, but I'd like to see them.

such a beautiful panarama! I only wish it was larger!

I love this shot. The wide perspective and the black and white are very effective. The general visual clarity suffers slightly, but very nice work.

It's a bit small to see what's going on here. I really want to see a larger version because the potential is hugh.
