My favorite of the challenge. Excellent capture of two males going at it. 10 |

a little too heavy in the shadows. The brightness behind the trees draws my eye. |

Powerful shot--a closer crop & more light on elks' heads would help. |

photographically speaking, the photo is okay (the depth of field is too large, the lighting is unremarkable, the composition is weak). However, when looking at animals images (as opposed to flower images for instance), one must take into consideration things like opportunity and timing. You had an amazing opportunity to capture something unique and your timing was excellent (replace these two with a couple of squirrels any you see my point). My expectation of technicals is low with images such as this - the moment weighs much stronger - you don't have time to worry about all the crap. Hope other voters realize this, though I'm afraid they won't. But, on your ability to capture an amazing moment, I give you an 8. Would love to read the story behind this opportunity. |

AWESOME!!!!!! I've been waiting for a shot that truly struck me as great, thank goodness i have. I could see this one hanging in my room. unfortunately there are a few blown out portions in the top right side but other than that its a great shot |

Stunning shot, but the photo appears to be either over sharpened or pixilated. I think the would be wonderful it it was black and white. |

Concept is good but everything is lost to the background. |
