Challenge: Flora II (Basic Editing)
Camera: Canon EOS-350D Rebel XT
Lens: Tamron SP AF 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di for Canon
Location: Back garden
Date: Oct 4, 2007
Aperture: f2.8
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/160
Galleries: Nature, Floral
Date Uploaded: Oct 7, 2007

Shot in my garden in raw. A few adjustments in raw then exported to CS2. Did a levels and curves layer adjustment. Boarded, Sharpened and saved for web.
Chose f2.8 to make the depth of field as shallow as possible - to create a nice blurred effect in the background

cute, lovely bokeh, the crop seems a bit tight on the bottom, I would have liked to see some negative space between the bottom petal and the frame

This has nice DOF, and the colors are nice. The whites look a little blown out on my monitor, though. It's still a very nice photo.

love the shallow depth of field, a bit too closely framed at the bottom

Great background to add extra interest, and while the front petal itself is a tiny bit blown out on my screen, the sharpness of that contrast with the subdued background works really well to offset the subject well.

Nice Colours in the Iris. I'd watch the hotspots though, Can be a challenging flower to take as the white tends to cause a major contrast to the rest of the colours. Tru under expose a little and maybe increase Brightness. Also be careful not to cut the flower, would have pushed it a tad higher.

Love the colors and the background. The bottom crop top is too tight in my opinion. Well done.8

Very soothing colors and nice, soft bokeh. My only complaint is in the composition of the picutre. It seems like you'd have done better cropping out the flowers in the background and fill the frame with just the one in the fore.
