 ... to look cute and block your door so you can't get inside and have to remain outside playing with them?

Still stuck on cats. Truth is I'm doing a bunch of work from home right now writing proposals for physics courses to teach online for a couple of colleges, so I'm not getting out much. For those who love cats, whoopee! For those hate cats, bummer :-)

I'm continuing to use the wide angle lens to see what I can do with it. I'd say this shot is different from my usual style because I generally like to fill the frame with a cat face, or at least focus on one cat in an image. So having several cats in an image and trying to find an interesting arrangement of those cats is a learning experience for me. It is compounded by the fact that cats are constantly in motion and I have to just shoot like mad, usually not even looking through the viewfinder, and hope that I catch something worthwhile.

PP is as follows...
-Cut kitty in star cube out from another nearly identical image due to better pose and paste into image, blend sloppily
-Merge background and new kitty layers
-Create duplicate layer to apply LucisArt Whyeth at about 25%, layer at 100% opacity
-Channel mixer layer to convert to b&w, then adjust opacity to 93% and mask out a few areas like eyes and orange colored fur that I'd like a tad more color on
-resize, save for web

Good idea leaving the color in the eyes and some orange in the fur. It adds just enough color to the b&w so that the focus remains on the cats.

totally love this photograph .. love the wide angle .. love the legs going all over the place and that one cat looking straight at you, thats my fav bit, altho his leg over the other cat is priceless .. & OMG .. i'm not a cat person !! .. we're totally in love with our little katee, who is a dog .. but i'm very swayed to actually like cats seeing all these excellent images ... altho the blocking of the door would annoy me (thats polite talk rather than a very appropriate swear word i could use) .. but on coming across this sight i think i'd be grabbing my camera and getting over the annoyance .. they look like they all have a case of personality plus !! :)

I am hoping it is the wide angle that has caused some distortion, otherwise that cat has some seriously long front legs. :)

As far as I'm concerned, you can keep them coming. Great shot - love the super lanky legs of the juvenile cats. Fun composite and BW.

Great shot. I would have never guessed the cube cat was pasted in. You have that many cats? I thought we had too many at 3, plus our 3 dogs. The orange and white one looks like it should try out for the feline volleyball or basketball league, but of course that is your 10-20 lens and closeness to them.

LOVE. love love love. Another great cat calendar shot! This one looks kind of cartoonish, especially with the way the one orange-and-white one has his leg streeeeetched by the wide-angle distortion.

I love cats, and I love your cat photos. I think your cats are very lucky, they obviously love being part of a big happy family, and you can tell they are quite spoiled :)
