There is not much I do not like about lisianthus. Well maybe the color range but then that does translate well to BW. I found that purples and blues and greens translate well, the cool colors, but hot colors such as reds and oranges do not do as well...yellow being on the border line can go either way.

So here is my formula and it is basically how I do all my black and white conversions.

I process the image first with the idea in mind that I will present it in color. Then I do a layer of hue/saturation at 100% opacity taking the saturation all the way down to -100. Next are layer adjustments for levels and brightness/contrast (though I left the B/C out on this one cause I did not want the whites to be too blown out). Then I have added a layer of curves adjustment usually taking the darks down a bit, leaving the midtones alone and bumping the highlights (although in this I did the opposite, again because of the whites blowing out a bit). Sharpening and noise reduction (if necessary) are already done in the color version so I resize and smart sharpen. (Noise was prominent on this one because someone forgot to change back from 400 when shooting some interiors earlier in the day...Wow! I thought...f/ 13 at 1/90th in studio?....duh!LOL!)
