So I was sitting in the backyard. And we have a butterfly bush but generally the butterflys just fly around, but I look over and this one was sitting there. So I ran in to get the camera, more specifically, my dad's camera (the DSLR). Run outside, and start taking pictures. The butterfly flew away so I sat down to look at what I got, press the preview button: No CF Card. What? Dad didn't put the memory card back in the camera. So I go inside to get it hoping the butterfly would come back. Couldn't find it so I got my point and shoot, went outside, butterfly was back, and here is the best picture before it flew away.

Of course the camera didn't focus completely on the butterfly-it's more on the branches behind it, I blurred it out though. But I was very upset because I swear those were the best pictures ever, lol.

Not to worry...the butterflies will return and you will get many more shots at this.
I put a hummingbird feeder outside my bedroom slider..and had much the same experience. Sat around waiting for the darn hummingbird...finally got off some shots...and the fence was focused in great...lol
The hummingbird was a lovely green blur.

LOL they always are the best ones. I learned the hard way to always put the CF card back in the camera as soon as I finished transferring the photos off it. Headed across to Dargaville to take stock car photos, got there (hour travelling) and discovered the card was still on the kitchen table. Did have a tiny spare in the bag ..... it only held 28 photos!!

Hopefully the butterfly will be back for you tomorrow.
