Shutter: 1/125

Date Uploaded: Feb 7, 2004

 Shot in AV mode with natural lighting, focal length 41.0mm. Rotated CCW about 70 degrees & cropped. Duotoned to get a sepia effect. Used the burn tool to tone down some hotspots on the rope and head of the nail. Adjusted curves and did a slight USM.

I had two shots that I was working on for this challenge. I liked the other one better but I felt this was more fitting of the shallow DOF than the other. Can't keep second guessing myself, so ended up submitting this one.

K now that i see this one i think you made the right choice. I loved the other one, but this certainly highlights the shallow DOF more than the other, though like you, I prefer the other picture.

Good little study which has merit beyond the challenge. I like the tones and lighting as well as the hues you have chosen.

The sepia treatment enhances your composition... like the placement of the infocus part and the squiggle part

Lovely lighting! This is a really lovely image - the kind of image where content itself doesn't matter - the end result is visually appealing because of the light/ shade/ form/ lighting and not because of the choice of content.
