I'm really surprised to have anything to enter. I went to the airport to get a shot like this, but arrived just after the sun had gone down, and it was a clear blue sky. No interesting clouds and it was getting too dark to take much that wasn't very noisy. This was the second shot I took.

As I flipped through them, I really didn't see much worth pursuing. Then I came back to this and there was just a faint bit of pink in the lower left corner. Hmmm ...

To my pleasant surprise, deep colors emerged after a LOT of heavy curves and multiple noise reduction passes, plus a selective color layer to further push the colors. Oh, and I used the healing brush to get rid of one dust spot just above the plane. The "vignette" came naturally out of the editing; I didn't even do anything in the RAW conversion. Crop, resize, add the frame, and submit.

So I agree completely with the folks who complained about the lack of sharpness and other stuff around the airplane; in advanced editing I would've cleaned it up. :)

I also have no trouble with some people thinking the colors are over the top. I actually considered reducing the saturation, but I like it this bold.

Oh, and it's a commercial 20-seat-or-so plane, not a private jet; none of those went by when I had decent light.

Hello from the Critique Club,

It is amazing what you accomplished in post processing considering what you started with. You almost turned a piece of coal into a diamond. Sorry this critique doesn't contain more substance but you got everything out of this image that could be got. Nicely done.

Feel free to send me a PM if you have any questions regarding this critique.

Amazing job with the PP! Who'd have thought all of that color was just waiting to be brought out? Probably even surprised yourself, eh? :P

Great image/exposure and sky, very bad haloing around the subject.

Private jet, public sky. They should pay us to use it so selfishly.

Good point nicely made - frame's a bit heavy.

Great colours, don't like the plane - coulda been bigger, crisper - but it's a difficult shot - and you got it! Real crap submitted in this challenge. I'll give you a 9 'cause yer welcome relief!

Nice colors. I wish the jet could have been more prominent though. Not bad.

Plane seems a bit fuzzy on the edges. Great colors.

If someone was to hang this photo with the label 'Wealth' under it - people would make the connection. Great concept, and nicely done (technically) overall. Good luck in the challenge.

The colors look over done and the shades on the corners are not good for the picture.
