I checked my original. I can see the slight star trails in my original. I think the trails became almost round due to resizing and sharpening. Ha, I wish I could buy that kind of fancy motor and telescope now.

Thank you everyone for the comments and votes. you guys are absolutely right. It's not northern light, aurora is usually curvy. I took this photo at the WESTERN land ends of San Francisco located WESTERN of USA. You may call it western light if you like. lol.
The subjects are the vestige of ancient times and that's how I name it.

I'd suggest that this green haze are'nt northern lights, it's just clouds beeing illuminated from the light of a town or something. i know how northern lights look like and would be pretty surprised if these are really northern lights (i've seen the first aurora activity in iceland around this time of the year but not as strong as this seems)...but tell me a lesson if you can...;-)

anyways, congrats on the top 10, it's an awesome scene!

Now, where does a California boy find the Northern Lights this time of year?

The lighting is wonderful. Green is as good as any to back light but not all of us have the chance to catch this wonderful back drop well met and a great capture. It is nice thinking outside the box. Hope you do well with this.

too much noise reduction for my taste..the objetcs in the ground might mean something for the local culture but IMHO are meanless to the average viewer..sorry
