i like it... it's emotive... but giving up, misery, desperation... it isn't that neat. It's messy and ugly and something people want to turn away from, not a soft emotive b&w. This is too nice and appealing! sorry |

Goldberry, i understand. i just get worked up quite easily when i was just trying to open their eyes. i failed slightly, so i'll just accept it. |

This photo didn't miss the point of the challenge at all, don't mind those comments Xburnerx. If the photo scored low it's not because most people didn't get it, because we did. And 4.9 isn't a very low score..it's middle ground and that's where this pic falls - in the middle. Could be a great photo, but lacks the edge and realism that would come with such a scene. I think everyone who didn't get your point must've posted, such a minority, don't be offended. However, I myself was mildly perturbed by Rasai's comment...there's a reason so many junkies litter our streets: drugs work. Doesn't make abuse right, but doesn't change the fact either.

time for my rant...just plainly this has got to be a joke, a 4.91? oh yeah, i know why, there was no cats, flowers, or rain drops domintaing. this must have been what the people who are offended were thinking they only like to see "happy" things. i'm not sorry but this is not in bad taste, it's a depiction of an everyday occurence, but you turn a blind eye to it and live in your little suburban home with with your nice little $300k house. not everyone is like that. and to the nice bloak who chose to take the time and copy and paste the rules for me, i'm so grateful because i totally forgot that a photography site chastizes originality and creativity. mayve i should sellout and take little pictures of cats and flowers that lack no substance or meaning. "misses the point," oh please, did you even look at the photo? or are you the suburbanite that i am referring to? oh yeah, and if you were so deeply offended and could not longer continue to look at the photo because it depicted drug and alcohol use, why didn't you request a DQ? yeah, because you're all talk and no walk. don't bitch unless you're going to do something about it.

wow, harsh. I find the soft/blur to be a bit too dreamlike, it doesn't seem to be the desired effect. Or is it? Either way, I like it but am suggesting a more contrasted photo would give a deeper sense of reality here. |

Good image but I hope it is only for the camera
Booze and pills are not the way to go.
Just remember there are plenty more girls out there.

I like the idea, but it doesn't seem realistic that in a moment of self pity and thoughts of suicide, you would type "why didn't you love me" on your laptop screen. seems like a very timid response. |

powerful image. softness and shadows add to effect that he isn't letting go, he's gone. |

Painful subject, so the darkness of the photo fits. The compostiion is a little busy, perhaps one bottle and one package of pills would suffice? |

great choice of b&w and soft focus. Well composed with a twist. One bad point is leaving the top on the bottle, looks to neat and tidy which would have been the last thing on his mind.
I will give this an 8, but no doubt lots will hate this as it's not cheery and full of color. |
