Surprise, surprise! My second best score so far - with a point & shoot camera and with a DNMC shot (following the challenge description). Proof for two facts: It's not the equipment, it's the photographer. And voters don't care for meeting the challenge as long as it's a good shot.

BTW: The whole thing took me less than one hour - 30 minutes for cutting the paper and mounting it to the apple (each page pinned to the fruit with a needle), 5 minutes for the shot (lightbox from above, white paper background, handheld camera), less than half an hour for processing (levels, curves, hue/sat, reducing saturation of the paper, some burning for stronger shadows, cropping and slight rotation, USM).

Perfect tribute of the three (including yours) I've seen in this challenge this one is by far the best. Great lighting and perfect execution. 10 from this voter.

I like this quite a bit better than the original. I like this focus better, and the addition of the two seeds adds balance and interest. 10

Good emulation. Like I commented on the original, I'd like to see smaller font and wrapped text rather than cut-off, but to emulate it I guess you had to do this. You did a better job on the edges.

Your lighting is wonderful in this composition for it illuminates all the elements within. Colors are also great. And extra kudos to you for making the edges of the book pages nice and sharp as well as rounding them to the exact shape of the apple. They really look like they fit in there! Sharpness and details are wonderful I can 'read' and see the words clearly. I also like soft focus of the two apple seeds in the background...I guess that is the dual core that you 'plug' in:-)You did a fine job on emulating the original.

Excellent re-capture of this brilliant set-up! While a couple of others in the challenge tried to duplicate the original, yours is spot on! Bravo!

The best of the iBook take-offs. Smooth cut. Sharp photo.

I dare say...better than the original.

wow...that could even be better than the original...The original wins on creativity though...my eyes seem to be drawn to the marks on the apple
