Good lack of DOF beyond, nice sharp gull in front. Good color, nice job. - Not sure I like this type of crop. |

Terrific shot! There is really nothing here that I would "pick on" - I like the shot a lot, the composition works beautifully, but it lacks that "something" unexpected, unusual, or impactful that would take it to a "10". 9 |

Great moment captured. Like that he's looking at the camera as well. Good colors and use of DOF. 8 -danny |

Great use of DOF, especially the birds in the background. Wonderfully captured pose by your main subject. Great image. Slightly oversharpened with hallowing in the rightmost tail feathers. |

Nice shot, good color. Might've been neat to try focusing on second gull to see if near and far birds would've been out of focus. |

Well-composed, nice work on the shallow dof. |

Very smooth shot. Good use of the technique and a crisply focused subject.
I'm being hypercritical here, but I suppose the bird is just a bit boring. If it was taking off or landing it would add some interest and that special x-factor. |

Wonderful use of DOF and leading lines. The rich color and perfect lighting make this awesome ! |

Yes this works well. :-) Makes me smile. I feel a bit closed in though..... maybe a not-so-tight crop would make the picture breathe a bit.... stil a big 8 from me! |

DOF leads to a nicely evocative composition. Seems just slightly off balance to the left, but still a nice photo. 8 |

Very sharp good timing on getting the shot while the bird was looking at you. (8) |

A nice example of shallow DOF and the diagonal does add interest to the composition. Two negatives from my point of view - one is that the subject matter just isn't hugely interesting and two is that the top left corner of the frame feels too tight - by that I mean that the subject matter - the gulls - are too close to the edges of the frame. |

Blue background with wood foreground works very well. Getting the bird looking right at you a plus on composition. |
