This one was the furthest away from home, but I had seen this farmer lady stacking the rice stalks when I was returning from an errand and knew I had to go back.
The local elementary school is across the road. This fits into both Urban and Rural categories. ;-Þ

The yellow flowers are on a gourd plant; the red ones are hibiscuses.

Nice concept of colors here with the earth tones and the bright splashes of reds and yellows in the forground and the background.

I really had no idea how rice was grown. Such an interesting picture. I always look at the pictures before reading the description. With the way things are arranged, at first glance, it looks like the woman is holding one big flower, with the red flower placed on top of the stalk. Pretty cool.

What are those gorgeous flowers in yellow and red? This shot is absolutely great! I also like the greenhouse frame. This has a very homey feel to it for me.

As in your other shot, this again tells a story about ordinary Japanese life. I think these are calling for a complete series on everyday life. Well done.

I had no idea they grew rice right next to houses....I assumed they were off in fields away from the towens. But I guess Japan is not that big, they need to grow it where they have space. Love photos from other countries showing things I've never seen before.

What a wonderful juxtaposition of the old and new. Great photo ... the thumb looks kind of ordinary but the fullsize image has a nice surprise. There's a lot to look at here. The horizontal line of the road is nice, and really helps ground the image. A polarizer might have helped pop the sky and show off those clouds a bit more.

Even the misty skyline gives a sense of place.
