Okay so I was going to use this for my Sept Free Study but because people are only looking for that WOw factor I didn't think this would do that good. It is a damn good picture of my wife and I do love it and her but as far as the free study I just don't think people will see what I see.

Really nice photo and I agree with what you are saying as a rule of thumb. IMHO many of the photo's we take of family, friends and pets hold warm feelings for us but the general viewer does not have those same feelings.

You are probably right about it being underappreciated in the free study, but I woulda predicted a top 20% finish - there is such a thing as "subtle wow" - that's what this is right here. There is nothing I would change on this. Fantastic job on the shot and the processing.

but cheater cheater in our B&W !!!..
only kidding .. i've been doing some expert editing in some of my photographs so i cant talk !! .. i think we're here to learn more than trying to stick to any hard and fast rules ..
it looks like you've slightly desaturated the colouring in this .. wotever you've done works so well .. very muted and gentle .. excellent .. :)
