Nice backlit picture. Not sure how it fits the challenge Opening (opening a window to see the past?). It looks like your camera date was set wrong (year 2099). If so, it may very well get DQ'd because you can't prove it was taken during the challenge dates. Make sure your camera date setting is right before taking pictures, and see if you can turn of the date stamp feature.
On the photo itself, I'd try straightening it so the right side of the mill is parallel to the side of the photo. The photo looks like it tilts to the right. The red building on the right doesn't add to the nostalgic feel of the photo. Nice light reflections on the water in the river. What a great location this is - I could shoot all sorts of pictures there...
Whatever happens on this picture, keep shooting. I'd love to see more of your work. |

I don't see anything "in the act of opening" in this photo. I think your date is also out of range too. |

A step *back* in time? Not according to the timestamp. ;-) You should try and prevent your camera from writing the date on pictures. I guess this is a reason for a disqualification (both because you have text in the image and because you won't be able to provide a file with the correct EXIF data). |

eeek, could have done without the date! |

Hm...what's with the date? I dont understand but i hope you dont get DQ. |

Opening??? I would be interested to know how you get a date stamp outside the challenge limit while getting the right date in the EXIF data. |

No, a look into the future (date stamp). |

The date stamp looks like a step forward. I hope your EXIF data doesn't read the same. This is the first time I've ever seen a date stamp on a contest entry. No exceptions for incorrect date. The RV in the background is highlighted in the water wheel, and that sets to date to modern time. Maybe moving to put it behind the foreground building would be better. Finally, I don't see a tie in to the challenge. |

The date stamp kills the photo. Not a bad shot, overall. |

You could have crop the date |

The date is not permitted.. |

I don't see anything here that is "in the act of opening." And you will probably get DQ'ed for the date stamp. And what about that year - 2099??? |

Uh, looks like a giant leap *forward* in time... |

i don't understand what this has to do with open |

The date stamp visible in your picture indicates that this picture is likely to fail any validation. The date recorded on the EXIF data must be within the week the challenge was announced and not 92 years in to the future. |

Hmm... wrong year on the camera date stamp. Might want to disable that for future submissions. |

Nice scene. It does seem a little crooked, but otherwise very nice. |

Oh no its dated AND the date is wrong.... gulp |

I'm not seeing the relation in any way to 'opening'. 'Opening' up the past, maybe? |

According to your camera, the photo was not taken within the required timeframe! :-) Had to point that out. |

News from the future? 2099? Maybe turn off the date function on the camera. |

If it were a little straighter and the date imprint wasn't there, it would have been a nice shot! |
