This was taken in Toledo Zoo. At first I wasn't sure if I wanted to take my camera to the zoo. But it turned out to be a useful experiment.

But yea, I wish the snake was facing towards me. I waited for a few minutes for the snake to turn around, but it wouldn't budge. I even knocked on the window a few times.

Overall, I am satisfied with this image. The details of the skin are visible as well as the drops of water on its head. But I do agree that the stick and the snake's position makes this a rather boring picture.

Thanks for the feedback.

There are some great things about this photo: it is very sharp; the colors are vibrant; the bokeh is nicely done. A few issues: the snake's head is facing away; the tall piece of bark bisects the photo. Suggestions to improve the photo w/out a re-shoot: crop a good portion of left and bottom so snake is more prominent; clone out top 1/2 of bark so bokeh is continuous across the b/g. Hope this is helpful!

Excellent colors and shallow DOF - but the snake is pointing the wrong way (albeit a safer way!). really nice sharpness in the details on the skin.

Colours are great, depth of field is nice and the focus on the snakes head is perfect. Unfortunately some interest is lost by not being able to see the snakes 'face' and that bit of bark that obscures part of the snake is a little off-putting. Not sure about the stick either. Overall I like it but it could be vastly improved by waiting for the snake to adopt a more interesting 'pose'.

Hope that helps.

Color of the snake is beautiful. Also like the patches of light, tough to expose properly with that and you were able to. Unfortunately, the back of the snake's head isn't as interesting as the front.
