Because I've not submitted a challenge entry with a horrible pun for ages ;-)

A yellow flower (don't know the species as I'm no botanist but I bet someone will tell me) against a background of loads more.

I wasn't going to enter this challenge as I've never knowingly shot a Bokeh before, but then I saw all these flowers and thought I'd have a go. I didn't like the results too much so I went back the next day and tried a few other compositions etc.

crop resize and USM. If we were under advanced editing I'd have done some selective sharpening on the flower head itself to make the petals stand out.

Not sure what mark I'll get, really depends whether my interpretation of Bokeh is compared with others.

POST: wooohooo PB! Went back a few days later for a bit of a reshoot and it was all gone :-( some park manager had decided to level the flowerbed to the ground :-(

great use of bokeh, highlighting the beauty of such an everyday flower...I like your choice of composition too, leading our eyes across the surface of the image

Great execution of bokeh. Not sure why voters vote so low sometimes.

Really nice bokeh, i think the only problem here is that the flower is not that interesting, everything is technically sound as far as composition, think it would have scored much higher had it been a more interesting flower, nonetheless a very nice shot

Critique Club feedback -

I think it is just a dandelion (a weed) so that's probably why it got mowed down.

Very nice bokeh behind the flower. Does it enhance your subject? I think so. The flower is the one detailed thing on a see of little yellow dots of light.

Focus on the flower could be much better. I would advise anyone to get the focus dead-on in camera. PP sharpening is never as good. Your shutter speed was a bit low here for the lens being used, that might have made all the difference.

Nicely done, and I think it's more challenging to have the background use the same color as the foreground and still have the subject stand out so well. I might have rotated it a bit so the flower was primarily leaning into the picture instead of out of it; it just feels slightly off-balance to me compositionally. Excellent entry overall.
