As far as being the only one who likes it - I'll have you know I have a ribbon winning shot with fewer favorites than you have on this one! : ) What a yucky place to have to stay but this shot is a cool way to immortalize it. I hope you weren't alone. : ( |

The lighting and contrast on this capture is extraordinary. I also love how it tells a story about your personal experiences. a terrific shot (gave you a 7 during the challenge). |

I think the feel of the place comes across very well - institutional and very bleak indeed. The perspective is what's really effective - it feels like the photographer is cowering in the corner of this inhospitable cellar. |

I didn't vote in impressionism because I really still do not understand it lol. Your processing here gives this a prison like feel. So bleak it is! It reminds me of the view one might see when they first open their eyes in the morning. Good job conveying the dark mood. |

Heh - I didn't vote on all of it and didn't see this one. I dig it and the bleak is perfect. You did a different interpretation of Impressionism than a copy of a painting. I dig it. |

I think you're right about this not being typically impressionistic in terms of the "pretty feel" of an image, but you nail the sentiment of the place so well... this image brings it right to the heart

The 4.86 is highway robbery. I demand a recount! Seriously, this has more creative, REAL, impressionistic feel than most of the photos that are "impressionism wannabes" in the challenge. |

Yes, this isn't pretty enough for a challenge. I agree with Timfythetoo about it being depressing but fascinating. At first I thought I was looking at a monastery or a jail! Good blur and color -- you really do have the feel of a painting.
Nice work. |

Deb - I had no idea this was yours and gave you a high vote as well! I find it most interesting. Seems the very epitome of bleak. Well done. Just hit the ignore button on that score :-) |

I didnt even get a chance to look at images from this challenge until today, and I noticed this one in your profile page. Grabbed me from thumb because of the color and shadows. I can see that this image would not score well with the masses, but would strongly touch a handful. I would have scored it a 7 had i voted on it. Has a depressing feel to it yet I cant seem to look away. Made all the more powerful knowing that this could be the living quarters of a friend of mine. Not pretty eyecandy but surely an image with power. 4.8 - blah! |

Do I see a teeny difference between the commenters' evaluation and the 'all users' one? You got more than me, anyway :)
It's a brilliant picture - nailed by the title - and that conveyance of mood and feeling has to be a big bit of what impressionism's about. Surprised it didn't score higher? W-e-e-e-ll ... the fact that just about anything with a couple of Pshop filters to make it look like a painting would have scored higher will just have to speak for itself, to whomsoever may be listening. |

I like it too!:) Although there is blur, this still feels cold and hard. The bricked up window makes me feel claustrophobic and uncomfortable, yet I still want to look deeper and find out what's behind that wardrobe. The title describes this perfectly! |

Not sure how you can say you're the only one who likes it when your commentator average is 8.3333 (as is often said, you clearly found your audience). It so wonderfully captures -- in what I believe is the spirit of impressionism -- the sense of place, one beyond our precise senses, beyond our purely conscious sense of lines, and depth, and breadth. I almost feel as though I've been there, but I know I couldn't point it out if you took me there and asked me to. I've been there, but I've never been there. Excellent. |

OH MY GOD. Why did this score so low? I don't freaking understand. This is absolutely amazing. And you are definitely NOT the only one who likes it. I love it. And I see that 3 people gave you a 10. It's so perfectly blurry and has a lensbaby effect without a lensbaby. Just amazing. |

Nice subdued colors and I love the composition. The blur in the floor area and lower back wall seems a little extreme and bothers me a bit. Otherwise I really like this shot. |
