Now that the voting is over, I can post more about this. It just goes to prove that something which seems totally obvious to one person can be absolutely unclear to another. :) Youth and age go together for me because they are part of an arc which living things go through, if they are lucky to live long enough. In this case, I used the young (just having bloomed) flowers and the old (having sat in the back garden through an entire year's weather) door to represent youth and age abstractly. I appreciated the comments I received because it showed me how unclear my concept was to most people. :) I also thought of a different title, after the fact, which might have worked better - Opposites Attract...?

Lol... it's always very good to have the cockiness knocked out of one's attitude. I thought the image was perfect for this challenge and that the photograph was perfect as is. I knew other people wouldn't necessarily agree with the latter but didn't think anyone would think the concept was out of place so I live and I learn. :)

this is more 'soft and hard ' to me than young and old.

Nice shot, good contrast between the soft delicate flowers and the cry, cracked background.

Nice symbolism, and great detail on the flowers. Is the background melting ice?

Not exactly sure what connection you are making to the challenge them or how your picture conveys it. Aside from that issue, I think this is a good composition that has potential. I like the contrast of the softness of the flowers against the texture of the wall, as well as, the white petals and mottled pastel grey tones and would like more of those characteristics brought out.

Thats pushing it ..the statement that is, I sure you will explain it to us but I wouldn't have picked Youth and Age going together. Nice Image Tough!

I love the frailty of the flowers against the old wall. Very nicely done. 10
