Very nice hummingbird shot. The birds head is a bit blown out but it isn't that harmful. It's still better than I could do. Congrats on your new ribbon =]

But THANKS for all the votes and comments! :-)

AWESOME! I love it. I keep trying to shot...err photo...these little buggers at my place (7 feeders up now), but mine are very camera shy. Love to find out how you got this one.
Wonderful detail, great dof (background looks lovely), and great catch with both his wings out.
Only criticism from me would be the burns/highlights on his head and wings.
Really nice capture!

Beautiful bird.

My only question is whether this actually conveys speed ? With the wings largely staionary and no reference points in the background it shows a great shot of a hummingbird, but speed . . or does it show hovering? and is hovering speed or lack of it? Not sure.

That said it is only my opinion and it is certainly a lovely shot.

This is excellent. It is not just the speed of the birds wings but also the eye of the photographer.

Beautiful shot & background. More beats of the wings might show a bit more speed, but she sure is pretty.

Well done! I tried several times to get a hummbingbird shot for this challenge and didn't come away with much. You've done very well. My only complaint is that it is a little too contrasty for my taste - the brightness of the light on the top of the head is a little distracting.
