I initially saw this slug on a one of those inspirational posters with the word "Tranquility" thought it was too funny to pass up. Unfortunately, all the shot I had of it on the poster were even more out of focus than this one, so I was left with this as my best shot. Apparently I need a macro lense.

This picture just isn't appealing to me, sorry.

Nice contrast... but don't see too much speed going on here!

don't use a flash when you're using a macro lens. at least not of a shiny/slimy thing... make sure the focal plan is on the most important part of the subject... in this case, was is the lower back of the slug? try getting on your belly and shooting right next to the slug to get a more "intimate" view of it. we all see slugs by looking down at them. try finding a new, more interesting angle that might give your picture a little more "ooomff!"

this is different. Great.

Definitely a slow subject, but the composition, lighting, shadows, and focus all need work.

Okay, slow speed works fine for the challenge. But the slug's out of focus and it just isn't too interesting looking. Try getting down on the ground and shooting at the slug's level.

Slugs and snails can make wonderful shots as demonstrated by the likes of bubeltrubel but to get the best effect really takes some careful lighting and sharp focus.

No problem with this showing speed (or lack of) you just need to adjust the focus slightly and your angle.
