I've spent a bit of time looking at these two shots; I really like what you've done with the tones and the shades, and I think the crop is spot on (it helped to have the original to judge that). You do get a feeling that this is a confident young woman; that comes through pretty strongly in the capture. Her eyes are bright, her smile honest (and, I must say, untroubled). You've thought about the technicals of processing, but don't miss what you've captured and what's still come through. |

This is a lovely shot of a lovely girl. I agree that the surface blur on her skin is a little too much, and since this is natural light, there wasn't much to do about the shadow while you were snapping it. You might try filter>render>lighting effects to add a bit of light to the left side of her face. Might help, might be awful, but might be worth a try. I'm sure the girl will love it the way it is. BTW, I think you got robbed on the score. |

This has the potential to be a really nice portrait. I think the lighting could use a bit more balance from the right to soften the shadow from the nose and get more of a catchlight in the eye. This is relatively minor though and I think the main problem I have with this is the over processing. Too much blur of neat image on the skin gives it a very plastic look and doesn't match the still sharp eyes and mouth. Had this been toned down I think this would be very good. |

I would try and hold back on the blur a little bit. Her face looks a bit plasticy. Otherwise you have a good portrait here. I fills the frame and it has good lighting. |

Good shot. The pearl earring is OOF, and it is half of the title. Stop it down a bit more and adjust the shutter speed. You got good lighting and exposure. |

Beautiful model. Seems like there's a bit too much NI. |

Lovely model, but you need to be far more subtle about skin smoothing. Especially at such close range, where you expect to always see a little skin texture, no matter how smooth the skin. You've got the right idea about not smoothing eyes, eyebrows and lips, but you're just using too much blur everywhere else. And that frame is just a distraction. |

I've seen the Mona Lisa; this Mona is a lot more charming! Nice color; the eyes are sharp, yet there is a beautiful softness to her face. Great job! |

You've done a nice job filling the frame, and getting a nice expression from your model. The light's kind of harsh for this kind of subject, though, and it looks like you've done a lot of work smoothing out her face, to the point where it looks pretty unnatural. |
