Paraglider, Torrey Pines Glider Port, San Diego. The glider port is on the top of a cliff, 360 feet above the beach. The pilots take off by jumping off of the cliff into the updraft, then fly up and down the coast, sitting in something that looks like a cross between a sling and a beach chair.
Post processing:
* raw conversion (levels, rotate)
* slight crop
* clone sensor dust
* levels and curves to fix color cast and increase contrast
* USM to increase local contrast
* resize
* sharpen
* save for web
Post challenge....
Thanks everyone for the votes and comments! I was pleased with how this one did, especially since I started with a capture that had blown out water, and no contrast in the sky, and had to fix it in basic editing.
Since someone asked, the gliderport is at the top of a 360 foot cliff, and I was standing on the roof of the snack bar at the gliderport when I took the shot, about 380 feet above the water. |

Great job! This makes 4 of the top 11 in San Diego County, 3 IN San Diego!
*edit* Torrey Pines isn't in San Diego, but still in the county.

I love the off center composition. I would have preferred a little more space on the top. |

Torrey Pines glider port? Nice silouette against great evening reflections with good cloud formations from the remnants of Hurricane Dean. |

Nicely done. I commented on another shot of a paraglider and noted that it would have been better with some more negative space. This one has that and it is a nice improvement and much more expressive. 8 |
