Collection: 2007-08-09
Camera: Nikon D200
Lens: Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR II
Location: Olympic Peninsyla, WA, and Seattle WA.
Date: Aug 10, 2007
Galleries: Family, Emotive
Date Uploaded: Aug 25, 2007

Composite of three images, one of my daughter walking on a beach, another the Seattle's skyline made from the ferry, the third a landscape in central WA.

The main image (walking on beach), I processed it by itself, adjusted colours, darkened throughout, adjusted brightness/contrast, adjusted colours some more.

Then I added skyline (sky and clouds) from the landscape with bridge to the water/sand area, distorted and blended mainly for colour.

Then I added in the skyline, moved to the right place, blended in layers and erased portions to blend in with the sky, flattened.

Used a 50% grey layer to dodge/burn.

Resized, sharpened, saved for web.

Congrats on top-20!

No, it's not a typo, but it's a poorly explained process. I added 2 skylines, one (the second) is the Seattle skyline, with the buildings and all that. The other (the first) is a skyline sans buildings, just sky and clouds, that I overlated on the sand to intensify the meagre reflection there. It probably should have been called something other than "skyline", more like, "added clouds".

Thanks for pointing this out :)

I assume the city skyline is added afterwards and in that case I would have placed it up in the upper right corner and not the left, that just would have given this photo better balance in the composition.

Feels very futuristic. Maybe even apocolyptic. Nice subtle colors.

Great composition. Would have liked to have seen the clouds/fog hover above the city instead of extending all of the way to street level

The metallic sheen and reflections evoke a certain surreal mood. I like the placement of the subject and distant city. 8.
