 This is my first free study entry. I'm hoping it does well. I did a bunch of changes.

I first did an HDR version and I was hoping to play with that, but I didn't like it. The neatest thing I found was to get the edges of the image and use USM to the max, and it gives a glow to the image. Pretty neat trick I might use later.

I also tried selective blurring the background, but I didn't like the effect on this theme.

Added a slight S curve in curves.

When viewed in proof colors, it was too cold, so I used a color balancing layer to add more red to the mid tones and shadows.

Then I burned the edges and burned the blue walls.

I'm thinking this might make a neat B&W shot. The blue channel is pretty neat on this image.

This image was taken at Carousel Ranch where my son does physical therapy. They have an area with old town buildings.

I'm trying to get more layers in my image. Instead of just having one subject, I'm trying to get more subjects to tell a story. This is something I'm liking more and more in photography.

The 2 subjects I'm showing are the boots and the bull skull in the background. Which one is dead? Are they both dead (the bull head and cowboys)?

I would like to see darker shadows in this, it seems a bit bright

Nice capture - Love the composition and there is lots of interest here but the overal orange is a little distracting as too is it's slight softness.

Just a thought - since this was 'expert editing' it might have been a good idea to remove the security wires from the boots. It would lend a bit more authenticity to the story you are telling so very well.
