 This set up is an inspiration from one of my favourites in DPC ("On the half shell" by Techo)
I used a reading light to backlight the whole setup.

Keeping the glass cleaner to avoid a blur on the reflection was the most difficult part. I was not able to completely avoid that, but still I tried my best.

At times tying out some successful past images helps in learning a lot of stuff.

I assume this is on a mirror...stunning, I love the lighting...did you use any other kind of light box or anything...how did you get such a rich black background/foreground????

Hey I've seen this before ;) I like your take. A good clean shot. But for backlighting would've been nicer for the light to protrude more through the back of the shell so we see the little spots of texture of the shell.

I did a similar pic many moons ago lit from underneath - This doesn't really scream backlight though which is a shame.
