This is a marvelous shot. The iridescence is beautiful, and I like the little pearls in their little compartments. The geometry is very nice, and I am fascinated by the little hands at work. I am guessing that the score was lower than deserved because the voters were concentrating on the wings. To me they really are not the main focus of the shot, but if wings are being judged, they are a little blown in the highlights and a little soft in the focus. |

Very pretty colors Julie. And I like the iridescent purple stripe - makes it look different from most insect photos. |

Iridescent indeed and the contrast with the background comb makes the insect stand out more. |

Lovely capture of an insect in it's natural habitat. Maybe the hotspots on the wings could be toned down slightly though. |

bit of purple fringing on the wings and I'm afraid not very sharp. |

the flash is a bit too harsh unfortunately. it leaves a very bright purple stripe on the wings. |
