Shot on the bud of a Golden Penda Tree, the yellow of the flower distracted from the effect on the wings and found B&W with a diffuser was best.

Wow, Brian. I love this! I have really liked your photos lately. I love that misty soft gray surrounding your bee. I really think this is another Hywind photo that is quite underrated!

I love the focus on this, the DOF, and the softness of the b&w conversion. I don't know how you got the bee so sharp and the flower so soft, but I love the effect. The contrast highlights the wings nicely. I enjoy the furry little body too. Even though I think the b&w conversion is excellent, I miss the color in this image.

This is lovely and dreamy but I'd love to see the colour version. I love the way the bee is surrounded by the stamens.

I wasn't crazy about this shot at first - I thought that the flower parts interfered too much with the subject of the bee. However, it has grown on me and I think the fact that it is in B/W was a good choice. Nice detail.

Soft focus on the bee is distracting as is the ghostly bokeh.

Don't like the foreground detracting from the subject.
