 The crab was placed on a frosted glass held in place by two boxes on each end. I used a small candle and put it under the crab for backlighting. Used 50mm prime at F8, ISO 100, shutter speed 8 seconds.

post process: rotated image, cropped, resized, levels, colors saturation, usm, border added.

What a golden beauty to illuminate the Zodiac. The crab was selected because of its bacward side movement which resembles the apparant path of the Sun. At this time. in the western hemisphere, it almost reaches a dead stop and then begins its journey in the other direction. Hence, the longest day of the year. Your image is very impressionable.

I like this picture a lot. The yellow background has some quantization issues, but I have no idea why so I don't know what to suggest to fix it. But even with that, this is a good image.

I like this a lot... especially how the crab is completely sillouhette except for his legs.. nice use of light source etc. Great detail here.... and I even like your border (believe me thats a huge compliment) I'm going to give this a ten... nicely done. Good luck!

I love the translucency of the legs and the density of the shell. Can't remember seeing a crab looking so delicate.
