From Critique Club. Hello from Toronto ;-))

I would argue with Nephrotic. With this image the skewed horizon is irrelevant - think of a kid who is trying to look into horse's eyes. This is exacly what the kid would see. And the horse is busy and shy a little bit... just quarter second before turning the head on you!

The shot quality is really outstanding.

I gave it +6, not +10 just because this is a Zodiac challenge and the Zodiac horse has to be mystical and symbolic.

Really nice calendar shot. The only thing is that angles (angled horizons) tend to create a sense of excitment, It is a psychological phenomena) rather like the old Batman style of filming.
I think that is what has gone wrong in the picture.
I know the horse does not look right when the picture is rotated to level the background, I tried in photoshop - so this is one of those times when you need to have in your minds ete when taking the shot - "what is happening outside the main subject".
It's a shame because it is beautifully exposed. It needed a walk-around to try and find a different angle. it's the classic case of taking a beautiful landscape and then on looking at the picture finding a huge litter bin right in the foregound!
Getting the exposure of the horse as good as that in snow is an achievement in itself.

Nicely detailed, but the angle in which it is shot is kind of disorienting.

The unusual angle has something to be said for it and the colors are nice. The harness and fence take away from the Chinese Zodiac theme a bit for me.

big warm furry horse in a wintery scene. I like the angle. The lighting is nice. Focus a bit soft (but so is the horse!) Lacks a "wow" somehow, but very comfortable and pleasing.

I like the non-standard angle you took this from
