Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Chinese Zodiac (Advanced Editing I)
Camera: Nikon Coolpix 5000
Location: Studio
Date: Jan 24, 2004
Galleries: Still Life, Animals
Date Uploaded: Jan 24, 2004

Taken with ambient light coming through a West facing window - no cropping. Post processing done in PSP 8 and included sharpening, color balance, contrast adjustment, burning and smudging.

Just for the record, I have no idea why this jpg was under 14 k after the upload. Obviously a slip between the cup and the lip - the jpg was 80 k at the time I uploaded it. Thanks for all the constructive comments. :)

Good idea, but the compression artifacts really ruin it. Remember, you only need to get it down below 150KB, not below 14KB!

Good Idea and fits the challenge but it looks a bit blurry and detail is not sharp

A sharp looking dragon, but the background is very busy, and it takes a bit of looking to pich the dragon out of its surroundings.

This picture is far too compressed and has lost a lot of detail, making it impossible to judge it fairly.

The jpeg artifact problem you've got here, caused by overcompression, is ruining this shot. Sorry. 2

Try saving it at a higher .jpg quality. Your shot is only 13K -- you can go up as high as 150K. At this low quality, a lot of the shot is very, very pixelated.

The stem detracts from the dragon and even makes it hard to see...
