From Critique Club.
I voted for this image among the top in the challenge. The advantages of the shot are well noted and praised by other speakers above and I commit to those.
Now as you have mentioned cropping - there is a tiny note regarding composition. We see that this is a capture of the initial phase (very unusual) of the jump and the jump is going to be into the left-bottom quarter of the frame. The dog is positioned at the center with a small displacement to the left and the front paws are relaxed before spring action - already in the left-botton quadrant. What if you put those paws right into the center of the image? Thus the dog will get some space in front to jump into and this will also confirm that this is a high energy jump. |

This has great energy! The exposure on the snow is good, and you even captured those tiny sparkles of fresh snow. It's a good motion capture with no blur, although the head could have been just a tad sharper. Compositionally he's dead center, but I think having him bound toward the viewer gives it the dynamic of a dog rushing to meet his owner. |

I really like the stop action. I see a lot of power in the dogs stride. I also like the straight on perspective not what is usaully done fro stop action imagery. Nice! |

What a great shot. Looks like he should be at the track. Great sence of action, and good colors and shadows. |

it's difficult to get the exposure right in snow shots and you nailed it |

This shot looks like the dog is on the hunt and ready to take me down. Great DOF and catch on the moving dog. Best dog shot in this challenge. |

One of the best dog shots, catching the action and motion. Fits with theme. If it was mine I would have made a verticle pictures showing more the the dog and less of the snow on either side. |

Nice action shot. I like the snow lighting too. Maybe the dog would not be so centered? |

great dog-in-winter shot. The composition is action filled - where he (she?) has been, where he is , where he is going, then the capture of him mid stride, almost in flight anchors it all. You could crop in on the left and a tad on the right and gain some impact and focus (thematically) 8 |

This is a wonderful picture. The dog's coat is a nice contrast to the grays, blues and whites of the snow. And to add the action of the dog running is just a bonus. |

Great shot, by far the best in this challenge IMO! I love the snow on his chin, crossed paws, intent expression, not to mention the clarity and sharpness of moving animal, and even the snow is exposed perfectly. |
