 I didn't want to do another picture at the nature preserve I run at, so I went to Purdue University Calumet to run. I graduated from there in 1987 with a BS in chemistry and then in 2005 with a certificate in software development.

The campus hasn't changed much, although they did add a few building over the years. The main reason I went there was because they closed a road and planted wildflowers. I figured it would be a good place to get some pictures after I ran. I was wrong. The purple coneflowers were toast and nothing else was ready yet.

On the South end of campus they put in a pond. Lots of dragonflys, cattails, and this grasshopper. I didn't have much time to shoot and this one won because it was mostly in focus, yet another windy day! I (over)used Lucisarts on the background, using a multiply layer.

MAN !!!! ... wot a totally excellent macro .. i can see such detail on that bug .. just wonderful .. great the way the grass stalks form a 'v' .. love your bokeh and everything .. BRILLIANT !!:):)xx

Grasshoppers sort of freak me out. I remember when I was a kid, mowing the lawn, and dozens of grasshoppers were suddenly leaping at me and sticking to my legs. Still gives me the shivers!

Good shot, the filter doesn't appear overdone at all.
