This actually did use expert editing. I didn't have a background big enough to get it to all be white, so I had to duplicate the background to cover up some stuff in the background. This took a lot of editing to get the lighting right, but barely any to clean up me. I left the hair and clothes alone. One little detail I thought was cool was that my right eye was actually just a teeny bit open so i just used an airbrush to black it out and make it look closed again. Editing was almost all just color, lighting and getting the background white. I adore this self portrait. I really wanted to just put it in my profile and not put it in a challenge because id have to wait for comments, but I think this could be a great thing to try and put in the free study to see how it does.

Critique Club feedback -

You regularly submit well executed, creative shots and this is no exception. The lighting is very nice and the amount of effort you put into the shot certainly paid off. I'm actually puzzle as to why this didn't score higher as it pretty much delivers everything the 'typical' DPC style shot should. Who can predict the fickle tastes of the masses...

What a great capture! I'd say it was fun, but the "expression" on your face gives it much more emotion, imo.

My first impression is goofy self portrait with good technicals. I would have liked to seen this cropped so that your head/shoulders/hair/necklace were more prominent. I think you would have scored a lot higher too.

Nice shot - Like the tones - nice flowing feel to this - Not too sure why you rotated it though as it now seems a little awkward. Nice shot though
