I play Ultimate Frisbee, a high-energy team game that combines elements of soccer, basketball, and American football. Our local league sponsored some exhibition games among some of the best players. They played at a nearby high school, and were able to turn on the lights as the sun set. Those lights were all I had for the shot.
Since I play, I know the rhythms of the game, and I was able to see things developing in time to pick out where the disc was going, zoom in, and focus. This was the best shot of the night, and I knew it the moment I saw it in the LCD.
One fun thing for me was that getting this and other shots took every ounce of my abilities, including my ability to get the most out of my equipment.
It's not perfect, but I'm hoping the expressions and action will overcome the problems, one of which is that's the very top of the frame as I shot it.
Post-challenge: hooray! This image and the free study that also ended tonight cap the first time I've ever scored over 6 three times in a row. :) |

Great capture of their expressions. I'm not sure if you cropped this, but I think a little bit more negative space would make the shot look a little less cramped.
Ultimate frisbee is a lot of fun! |

I like the stop action in this shot! You've filled the frame will. |

I like this. The lighting, the action, and how high that little guy is. |

Not bad, but there is some serious competition amongs sport shot entries in this challenge and this one is more in the middle of the pack. |

Wow, awesome action shot. Wish it would be slightly brighter and not so much of the green tinge. Great work though. |

Great sense of timing! I only wish there was more space at the top. I don't know how to fix this but the colors are off a bit. The skin tones seem green but taking pictures under those lighting conditions is very difficult. Great job. |

Nice capture - Good composition and nice capture in what looks like pretty low light. |
