 This is Heiður Hallfreðsdóttir, first time I photograph her for DPC and haven´t actually taken her picture in over two years. She is a dancer so I thought she´d be perfect for this photoshoot wich the idea was basically just get a trampoline hidden in the grass and have her bounce and do poses in the air. I added the baloons last minute as I have seen shot´s done with baloons from DPC so that bit is "stolen" and I thought they would be a good way to hide the face as well. Then she jumped probably about a 100 times, she was a REAL good sport and we had a lot of fun, tried a couple of backrounds and I liked this one the best.

Honestly though, I don´t see a lot of emotion in the shot so I would not argue with anybody about it meeting the challenge. Again I would not have entered this challenge if it wasn´t for the DPL, I liked the concept of this challenge better than Still Life anyways and I had a blast in this photoshoot so I don´t really care about the score except I don´t want to let my teammates down so I´ll be shooting for street photography as well, no doubt :)

Took this in the evening and only used ambient light for the shot. Borrowed a trampoline from work (thanx EXPO) and it´s hidden in the grass below Heiður, hence her jumping so high although this girl is very athletic, I tried jumping like that and only got about 10cm up in the air and almost broke my neck, guess I am getting old and fat, hehehe.

Editing was all very minimal, raw conversion for contrast and white balance. Ran shadow/highlights to actually mostly darken the highlights bt also to slightly lift the darkest parts of the photo, added a little sepia toning with hue/sat, curves and unsharp mask for contrast and cropped to a 4:3 ratio, sharpened and added frame after resizing. If this had been advanced editing I would have removed the flower in the lower right corner and the ribbon that is over the pink baloon but otherwise kept this pretty much as it is so I am happy with the shot.

Wohoo, can´t really say I expected the score, am pretty extatic since it means I get to cross off two things on my "to do" list this year, now I can just take an relaxed attitude towards DPC for the rest of the year. Takes me back about a year when I also got to cross of two things of the 2006 to do list at the same time when I entered the challenge "Take Two" and could take it easy for the rest of that year too :)

The contrast (between the joy in the model and the pain/loneliness in the building) ruined it for me. If it had just been natuer (mountains and/or field) behind her, I'd have voted you higher.

a nice portrait and DoF, although I get the emotion it doesn't feel so extreme. But one person's extreme may not be another's...
I like the idea of the balloons but if they had more color I think it would have been better. everything else is well done, nice and crisp.

Really, this is just perfect. I think the beautiful focusing you have achieved here definitely makes this superior. And of course, the tonal range, the sharpness, the splendid backdrop. You get the idea :P

What no suicide picture?? My pic for the red ribbon. I love your take on the challenge. Think positive, don't kill yourself, or show depression, but rejoice in life. Although this can be considered a bit cliche with how many ballons have been flying around in challenges. It still is a top 3 shot IMO. Great DOF and clarity. Colors are right on. And what a hell of a jump. WNBA?? 9.

This image is awesome, even if the chick w/ the balloons weren't there, can't see where the emotion is, I know that'd be pretty fun, though. The quality is superb, unsure if this really meets the challenge, so I am giving a 8.
