I set this shot up in my bathroom as it is the only room in the house without a window. I put a black sheet up for the background. I froze the bottle of water and let it melt a little. I set the camera up on a tripod. The next part was real tricky. I don't have a remote control on my camera so I had to shoot left handed and anticipate when the shutter would open. I wore a black sleeve on my hand and arm to keep them out of the picture. The light was from a 3 bulb LED head lamp I use backpacking. It was not easy to get the light to be the same width as the neck of the bottle. First had to shine the light into the bottle to get the ice to illuminate and then it was practice practice practice. It took about 60 shots to get the one that lit up the bottle just right and appear to come out of the bottle. Thanks to everyone who enjoyed the photo. That's what this is all about right? |

I think this photo stands out - at least I'm puzzeled with regards to what I am seeing (the white arc, that is...)...
Like it...

I like your idea and I like the way the strand of light seems to bend over itself but there is no clear focal point for me to rest my eyes upon. Perhaps a broader arc to the light that falls off the page to the right and the bottle closer to the left,, Very good technically - clear, sharp and the lighting is good. |

Maybe without the label on the bottle it would be more spectacular? Still interesting! cool effect!

One of the few I have seen so far which appears to really be "painting with light". I do think that the label detracts from the picture as a whole. It seems that it either should not be there at all or it should be sharper and crisper |

Inventive! I like this one allot. Some soft lighting on the bottle itself coming from the left side may have helped (or not). Just a suggestion really. |
