This is a cool pix. I like the 'hollywood' feel to the lighting. I think you should have finished higher. So be it. |

Thank you everyone for your comments and voting. I had a lot of fun creating this Alien Landscape. I spent a whole day doing it. I used the following fruits/vegetables: kohlrabi, chayote, asparagus, broccoli, kiwi, turnip seeds and rambutan. I had to use the plastic alien to give a sense of proportion and to help make believe its another planet. Some of you thought that I didn't really need the alien, and I did take some pictures without it, but I thought I had to put it in. What drove me crazy was that I couldn't get the alien figure in focus as its surroundings. I also tried a lot of different lighting. I finally used a normal lightbulb to light the background hills, and used a white light on the front. The kohlrabi (the vegetable on the right) was the one that gave me the idea of doing this (it sure looked alien to me). Other variations I had was a red sky but opted for the black one because it seemed more real looking. As someone pointed out, I now realize that I could've had better lighting if I didn't use such a dark color for the ground. Thank you all for your comments. |

I really like the landscape you created here and the vegetable at the right, whatever it is, indeed seems extra-terrestial. What mars it for me though is the little plastic figure added. I could see the alien aspect quite well without it and this figure cheapens the effect. Colors are good and excellent sharpness. 7 Journey |

This is about as much fun as vegetables can get! Good image (though I'm not so sure about the plastic alien). Exposure is great, good DOF and color. |

As this shot was loading and prior to reading the title – I thought that it looked like an alien landscape – then I smiled when I looked at the titleâ€Â¦ This is superb, but you should have lost the plastic figure- it kills the effectâ€Â¦ I was thinking how alien it looked long before the little plastic monstrosity appeared. Right, having blotted out the plastic thing – this is a really well taken and superbly composed shot. You have achieved you objective with aplomb; first class picture – plastic thing not withstandingâ€Â¦ With little creature (5)â€Â¦ Without plastic thing (10++) â€Â¦ Compromise on creative use the camera and outstanding shooting – (9) |

you have rich color and texture in this shot...and then dull grey plastic that draws the focus away from the inventive use of the veg....image would have been much stronger without the plastic, imo. Revised: really do love the texture here, keep coming back...how about if one of your asparagus "trees" falls down on top of that plastic...the eye could go further into the landscape...hmmm, bumping this up 2 points (7) ~mcmurma |

I generally don't like the "science fiction" photos but then this is better than most. The Kohlorabi (?) on the right sure looks like an alien spaceship!! Nice job. |

What an idea! I like the composition, and the varying textures - I think I would have liked a shot of really bold contrasting color somewhere. Not crazy about the alien. lhall-6 |
