 Back to the beach.

I've become intrigued by long exposures on breaking waves. If you have some people running around in the shot to make ghostly forms, that's good, too.

The sky really was this color. There's a huge fire burning in the Santa Ynez Valley, and the smoke is blowing over the mountains to us. Usually we don't get a sunset like this until November or December.

The long exposure is amazing, especually around the ankles of the person standing in the water. It looks almost liek they are reminiscing of playfullness during the day by watching the ghostly images. So very cool!!

I do like ghostly forms, but IMO this image is so striking in itself (the soft wave effect that you have created and the stunning sunset..although the cause of it is not good) that this almost seems superfluous)

This has a great tranquil and calming feel to it

I can understand your liking for these types of shots, this is very well done. I really like the ghostly figure.

Wow, very nice. The ghostly figure makes a real impact, especially as connected to the blog entry. It almost seems to be making a statement regarding the fact there is a huge fire burning. Almost as if the spirit of life came to these shores as a final farewell. Great job.

this is absolutely stunning .. the person so clear and someone like a ghost .. the ship on the horizon is great too .. the colours are beautiful .. i just heard the news about a huge factory fire in phoenix arizona .. is that the fire you are talking about in your comments .. i'm in australia and it made the news here so it must be huge .. :)

Colors are great and the waves give that dreamy appearance. While I think it would be a stronger image without the ghostly form, it's very emotive.
