(without reading other comments)
Is it my eyes? Seems the focus is off or something.
I like the appearance of nature's mimicking the hummingbird. |

Love the translucence of the petals and the detail of the vine wrapping at the tip of the stem. |

These kinda look like a closeup of sweet pea.
I read the comments and kept looking back for the hummingbirds.
took me a bit but now I see them! |

Delicate and very sweet. I also like the soft DOF as well..... |

Like the strong diagonal lines of this one. The buds look like they're holding on for dear life. |

I like this one. The little curlicues at the top, even though not part directly of the flowers, looks like it's holding them up. Beautiful. |

I like this even better now that I see 3 hummingbirds. Love the blues/violets against the green background. Not too much can be done (at least to my satisfaction) if it starts out OOF. |

What an eye you have. I noticed the oof and then read Bears comment on not being able to go back and all the stuff on how to process and this comment caught my eye then when I looked at the shot again that's exactly what I saw. So cool there's threee hummingbirds sucking on that stem. |

The sharpening was done first. It's VERY OOF but I can't go back. It was windy when I shot it, and it is an extreme magnification, so virtually no DOF. Sharpening was done with "Focus magic", a utility to rescue OOF images. |

Too much sharpening to rescue a softish shot. |
Hmm. Not that I've ever run into that problem (yeah, right) but maybe go back before the sharpening and increase the contrast more, then reduce the sat slightly on green, then sharpen? The composition is lovely and the flowers (are they peas or wild peas?) are a nice contrast to the green, it's just the blue haloes that are distracting. OK, and maybe a wish for a smidge more DOF in the first place, but I'm sure you knew that. |
In Picasa, I notice the sharpen function actually empahsizes the processing done when it comes to saturation, what I have started doing is sharpening as my first step, so the image "starts out" crisp, then I change the saturation; I notice the grain seems less this way. So the sharpen function isn't also cranking the processing step...make sense? I don't know if that's an issue in PS or other "grown up" edit programs or not?
I's like to hear any thoughts on this...

I like the composition of this image a lot. Colors seem great to me and I like the softness of the image. |

Trying to think what kind of flowers these might be.. Dainty, elegant, and the light is nice just on the end of the stem and on the pedals. |

Just love how your colors are so translucent and vibrant. Soft shot or not this is a very beautiful image. |

Great colors and DOF. Like the flower detail and the vine atop the stalk. These look like a hummingbird trio drinking from the stalk. |

Bear
there's so much going on in this lovely flower...the tendrils curling around the top of the stalk, the curves of the flowers, which make them appear to be floating on a breeze, and the colors are so pretty. The border adds nice panache.
One thing that strikes me as off though is the photo seems a bit grainy in the BG, either too much sharpen or sat or both??
